and Murtha opened its doors as a public relations
organization, representing many of the world's great artists,
attractions, and cultural institutions. Through the
years, they added the services necessary to foster the growth
of artists and the expansion of the business. When called
upon, they act as tour impresarios, concert promoters, and
developed T.V. and radio spots for many classical
artists and dance companies, some of which were so effective
and distinctive that Advertising Age devoted a major
feature to the company's efforts. Shortly thereafter, articles
appeared in The New York Times , The Daily News,
and other major newspapers. Both Gurtman and Murtha agree that
their direct-marketing campaign for the video, The Best
of Victor Borge, remains the most successful direct
television and print campaign of its kind and has contributed
to sales of more than three million tapes. According to Jim,
"it introduced Victor to three new generations that now flock
to his concert performances".
